The photograph you see at the top of our Web page is of the "Sacred Grove" in upstate New York taken at the exact moment of the "First Vision" in which Joseph Smith, Jr. first saw Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ as two separate beings. This First Vision is the foundation stone of Mormonism. Without it, the Latter-day Saints have no faith, no fact and no mission in life. But, "Wait!" you say. "Where is Heavenly Father? Where is Jesus? Where are the Golden Plates that Joseph was said to have translated into the Book of Mormon? For that matter, where is Joseph Smith in this photo? You do not see them. That is because you cannot see a fictional event. None of it never happened!

Dave Mitchell, Executive Director
Although Dave never was a Mormon, he came about as close as one can come without becoming one. He was married to a member of the LDS church for 13 years and his three children were raised in the Mormon religion. Dave worked for a time for the LDS church through their broadcasting division. After being challenged to investigate the LDS church in the early 1970s, he came to the conclusion that their teachings were in opposition to the Bible. Dave has spent the past 40 years sharing Biblical Christianity with Latter-day Saints and warning Christians about the dangers of LDS theology. He has lectured before churches, parachurch organizations and on college campuses. Dave is a licensed Southern Baptist minister and is also ordained. He has studied theology at International Bible College, Howard Payne University, Moody Bible Institute and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has taught cults and comparative religions at New Covenant International University and has also pastored several churches in Texas and Florida. He has been a professional broadcaster for over 45 years and has hosted a weekly radio show "The Next Step" on 50,000 watt WHIM in Miami, Florida. Claudia Mitchell, Director
Claudia joined Dave in ministry in 1986 and has studied theology at Trinity International University where she received a B.A. in Communications. Dave and Claudia have been married since 1987 and currently have three children and four grandchildren. Claudia serves as webmaster of Next Step Outreach.
